HISTORY

Our Ferco history begins with our founder, Mr. Serdar Aral, joining Borusan Group in September 1983 under the name of Birlik Çelik, a Borusan Group company, in order to start a foreign trade venture. The following developments and milestones are;

1983 - Birlik Çelik

A commercial-representative company established to serve the iron and steel industries.
Work began with Samancor (Iron Alloys) & Great Lakes Carbon (Graphite Electrode).

1985-2003 – Borusan Dis Ticaret

In addition to marketing Borusan Group products to the world, commercial activities were carried out in the fields of carbon steel, stainless steel and raw materials. Manufacturer relations were mainly carried out with the manufacturers listed below.

1998 - Eurinox

In 1998, Ferco Çelik, and ThyssenKrupp (AST), (equal partners 50-50%) joint venture, established Turkey's first Stainless Steel service center under the name of Eurinox Paslanmaz Çelik Servis Merkezi A.Ş.
In 2003, ThyssenKrupp Stainless purchased Ferco's shares.

1995- Fersam

In a 50-50% partnership with Samancor, manganese ore supplied from South Africa, Gabon and Brazil, ferro alloy tolling was carried out in Ukraine Nikopol, Romania Ferom Factories and sales activities to world markets.

1998 - Ferom

A ferro alloy factory located in Romania. First rented from the state, then purchased and sold to a Ukrainian Group.

2000 - Feral

A foreign trade company based in London, marketing the alloy production of the Nikopol factory to world markets

2000- Burk Mining

A manganese and iron ore mine in South Africa was purchased from Audax Mining. Ferco later sold Burk Mining to Diro Holdings in 2010.

2000 – Ferga

In 2000, Ferco Çelik made a Carbon Steel Service Center investment in a 20,000 m2 area in Gebze - Kocaeli as a joint venture with Gazi Metal (50-50%), and later this investment was completely sold to Gazi Metal in 2003.

2001 - Ferinox

Established to manufacture stainless steel products for IKEA Until 2008, it mainly manufactured stainless steel bathroom and kitchenware and decorative products. Ferinox continued its activities until 2008 when it merged with Ferco Çelik, and since then it has continued as Ferco Çelik.

2003 - Ferco Çelik A.Ş.

In 2008, Ferco Çelik and Ferinox merged, and a new stainless steel service center investment was started next to the existing Ferinox facility. With the facility completed in 2009, the accumulation from the First Stainless Steel Service Center experience was re-introduced to the market with Slitting, Cutting to Length and Polishing and Laser Cutting lines. The production made for IKEA accelerated in 2011 with the pot production facility investment.

2008 - AMR

AMR is an investment made by Ferco Çelik in a mining venture for "Rare Earth Minerals" in Turkey. The project started in 2007 and ended in 2014 when Ferco Çelik sold its shares to a Chinese Group.

2008 - AMP

AMP was established in 2008 as a joint venture between Ferco Çelik and Ronly to sell Ukrainian iron alloys in Turkey (2008 - 2013)

2013 - Sfera

Sfera was established in 2013 to replace AMP, with producers also participating in the shareholding. Share distribution; Ferco Çelik 25%, Vilmeks (Ronly) 25%, Producers 50% In 2016, Ferco Çelik took over the Producers' shares and increased its shareholding to 75%.
